The Bodyworks Fitness Dance Studio provides a fun way to exercise by learning vintage partner dancing and solo or group vintage choreographies.
In-studio or on-site.....private or group lessons offered!
Johnny was hooked on swing dancing after attending a swing dance and began taking East Coast Swing classes and private lessons. He has since studied various forms of swing dance including Lindy Hop (Savoy, Hollywood/Smooth, etc..), Balboa, Charleston, West Coast Swing, Collegiate Shag, and various line dances, choreographies, and jazz movement. His favorite is the lesser known but more intricate dance, Balboa. Johnny has taught group and private lessons, performed, competed, and has organized a very exciting 2-couple presentation for events. The 30-minute presentation called "The History of Swing" was first presented at the Piedmont Club's Summer Blast. The presentation demonstrates the various styles of swing dancing as they progressed from the Savoy Ballroom in Harlem in 1926 to present day. The presentation gives the audience a progressive timeline of how swing dancing has evolved. Coinciding with the presentation is a very researched historical narration in real-time with the dancing. Also coinciding with the dancing is the various music as relating to the time periods presented.
