Clients are worked with on a case-by-case basis to identify and address their specific requirements. Upon entrance into the facility you will be welcomed to the waiting room and before the first session a health history questionnaire is taken. The client then has an opportunity to discuss any health related issues or ask any questions about therapeutic bodywork or what to expect in the session before the session takes place. This is typically very helpful and relaxing for the client to become an active participate in the flow of everything. Also this helps to identify any potential contraindications that may need to be addressed before beginning.
Once the clients needs are assessed they will enter the treatment room. According to the clients needs, many options/tools are available: a heated treatment table, wide selection of oils/lotions (including hypo-allergenic), hot and cold (cryo-therapy) therapy treatments, NMT tools, trigger point charts to aid client in narrowing pain patterns, etc.
After the session, the client may be given advice or suggestions that will extend the benefits and/or aid in their own self-healing. Some of the advice may be exercises or stretches to do at home, self-massage techniques, advice on proper postural corrections, breathing techniques, etc.
What is Neuromuscular Therapy?
NMT is a thorough program of recovery from acute and chronic pain syndromes which utilizes specific massage therapy, flexibility stretching, and home care to eliminate the causes of most neuromuscular pain patterns. This specific and scientific approach to muscular pain relief will help to bring about balance between the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system. NMT enhances the function of joints, muscles and biomechanics (movement) and it releases endorphins, the body's own natural pain killers. It can be part of a comprehensive program, complementing all other health care modalities.
Neuromuscular therapy (NMT) has emerged as a significant methodology for assessing, treating and preventing soft tissue injuries and chronic pain. NMT, a series of treatment protocols based on the practitioner's skill, anatomy knowledge and precise palpatory application, has found its home, not only in the treatment rooms of massage therapy, but also in occupational therapy, physical therapy, nursing, dentistry, chiropractic, osteopathic and physical medicine clinics worldwide.
Neuromuscular Therapy examines six physiological factors which may create or intensify pain patterns. These six factors are:
- Ischemia
- Trigger Points
- Nerve Entrapment/Compression
- Postural Distortions
- Nutrition
- Emotional well-being

Another common reason is if the client has an injury, chronic heath-related problem, or anything that restricts their driving.
